Uniquely Absurd. Frighteningly Comic. Outrageously Subtle.

FRESH NEWS!!

LATEST:
CAPSULE, a new play by Andrew McNee and Michael Rinaldi.
"One of my favourite shows at the festival this year
... there is more packed into this 15 minute
show than some productions
achieve in two hours." -Dale R. North, Urban Pie.
Capsule was presented at Boca Del Lupo's Micro Series concurrent with the Vancouver International Fringe Festival. Was also performed at Progress Lab 1422's AGMapalooza party. Consistent with all Melee's shows, Capsule received rave reviews and had many people return for repeat viewings of this "Hilarious and melancholy encounter in deep space." -Colin Thomas, Georgia Straight.
Captain Robert Ballantyne of NASA orbits Neptune. He's lost his crew. He's lost contact with ground control. He fears he's losing his sanity. Just when he's lost all hope, he finds an unlikely friend.
Capsule was created and produced by FITO Corp, a subsidiary of Theatre Melee.
FITO Corp: Pushed together, taped into place, and operated by Andrew McNee and Michael Rinaldi, FITO Corp is for Theatre Melee's “Pet” projects.

Melee's last production, Cozy Catastrophe, was a runaway hit. Enjoyed a sold out run at the Cultch's Greenhouse space for Rumble's Tremors 2010 festival.
Here's what the papers said:

“Directors Courtenay Dobbie and Craig Hall set an impeccable pace for a cast that boasts unparalleled skill at deadpan understatement. Andrew McNee, Erin Mathews, Michael Rinaldi, and Juno Ruddell make their every absurd statement utterly sincere, to hilarious effect, and all are gifted physical performers (wait until you see Ruddell’s character try to run). ..
“Theatre Melee have reinvented absurdism for the 21st century. The gross-out factor is undeniable—bodily fluids are profusely displayed and described—but so is the sophisticated humour.” - The Georgia Straight

“Cozy Catastrophe has a self-assurance to it that speaks of many clever choices in evoking the kookiness of its characters, and it deserves to see some coin from a minor movie mogul so this lunacy can capture some awards at a festival of short films.
Until then, try to be one of the few lucky souls who’ll be laughing non-stop at Armageddon.” - The Vancouver Sun.
